Our Story …

Kira and I have decided to spend our honeymoon the best way ever! Giving to those in need

2019 has been a year of memories good and bad; We've both experienced loss from Cancer in the form an Aunt (Anne) and and Uncle (Dagz); in honour of their memory and giving back to a wonderful cause we're attempting to raise as much as possible

These funds go to the Cancer Council and we are extremely proud to be doing our part to support such a worthy charity.

Whilst we'll be raising and donating as many funds as we can ourselves; any contribution you choose to make we would be extremely thankful for.

Please make sure to follow our progress via this page and the blog post below or on facebook as we take off on our advetures

Here's what I'm doing …

Shitbox Rally is the adventure of a lifetime challenging participants and their cars, worth no more than $1,000, on a 7 day drive across Australia to raise money for cancer research.

The rally is not a race – it’s a fun, colourful, unpredictable adventure with participants travelling at their own pace in smaller groups. Vehicles often break down but “we never leave anyone behind” and each night is spent camping beneath the stars and celebrating the day’s achievements. It all adds up to an incredible opportunity to see Australia’s vast and beautiful countryside and make lifelong friends, many brought together after experiencing cancer themselves or seeing cancer impact family and friends.

Since it’s inception the rally has been the largest fundraiser for the Cancer Council nationally.

Happy 2020!

So this year is looking pretty great - Terry and I will get married in May and then we have our honeymoon in October participating in ShitBox Rally. Our route is Mackay to Darwin and we are hoping to make it over the finish line.

We decided to do something a bit different with our honeymoon as we have both had family members in 2019 pass away to cancer and what better way to spend your honeymoon the driving across the country for a great cause.

We are currently searching for our car witch has to be under $1000....... so until then have a look at our page.

Well the start of the year 2020 hasn't gone right to plan so far...….

we had a pretty bad bush fire season :(Covid-19 happened (thank fully I think we have been doing pretty well as a nation so far)Terry and I postposed our wedding till next May (oh well at least we are very well prepared for next year)Which means we might have our honeymoon before marriage! (fingers and toes crossed shit box still goes ahead this year)

In the mean time we have both just been working (yay essential service workers :)

And waiting to see if shitbox will go head this year, which we should find out in July. Once we know its going ahead this year e will start looking for our car and designing it.

Until then stay safe everyone and practice safe social distancing and hand hygiene.

The Impact, Outcomes & Charity

Shitbox Rally is a dedicated fundraising event for cancer research with funds going to Cancer Council.

Cancer Council is one of the largest non-government funders of cancer research in Australia. We conduct and fund research studies across all cancers and all stages of the cancer journey.

Thanks to the community funds raised such as Shitbox Rally we can fund world-class research that reduces the impact of cancer for everyone.

Almost $24 million has been raised by Box Rallies to date, supporting ground-breaking projects such as:

  • A research study to develop a vaccine that protects against lymphoma cancers.
  • A research trial to standardise international guidelines on melanoma removal.
  • A research grant to revolutionise the treatment of pancreatic cancer.

These projects wouldn’t be possible without your support.
